Too Many Demons

Too Many DemonsWhen we were approaching the Holy Sepulchre Church, which the Catholics claim was built over the tomb of Jesus' resurrection, I was telling Kristin the evidences that disprove their claim when she interrupted me and said that she knows this is not the real tomb of Jesus' resurrection.

When I asked her how she knows that, she said that it is full of demons. When we turned the corner and entered the square in front of the Holy Sepulchre Church, she literally shuddered, said it is disgusting how many demons are in that building and didn't want to approach it any closer, let alone enter it.

We also took a bus from Jerusalem to Bethlehem and then walked to the Church of the Nativity. She entered it with me, but while I was talking to a young man, said there are too many demons in that building as well; she felt oppressed, so she was going to leave and wait for me at the outdoor café just outside of it.

When I joined her a few minutes later, a burly middle-aged Palestinian man was sitting at a table next to hers and facing her. I introduced myself and after learning that he is a Muslim, began to share the Gospel, but both he and Kristin looked uncomfortable. He didn't interrupt me but looked away and wasn't paying attention to what I was saying, so we left the café.

Kristin later told me that when she sat down at that café, the Muslim man approached and told her to come with him so that he can have sex with her, saying that he has had sex with (he used a more crude word) lots of Western women like her. She was seething with anger but at me, not at him. A trashy man like him was willing to have sex with her so why couldn't I, who claimed to love her, just marry and have sex with her?

Had Kristin told me what that Muslim man had said to her while we were still near that café, I would have returned to it and exchanged more than words with him.
