Child Alter

Child Alter

Child AlterA few days thereafter, while Kristin and I were sitting on the couch of the living room of our apartment, both of us were thunderstruck when her voice suddenly changed into that of a little child who screamed, "Daddy hoet me! Daddy hoet me!" She was trying to say "Daddy hurt me" but was too young to correctly pronounce "hurt." A child alter, who later said she is one year old, had surfaced. She was angry at the world and lashed out at everything and everyone, including at me and Kristin.

We let the child alter vent, talk, and tell us what happened: she had been sexually abused by her father. When she calmed down, we told her that the abuse she suffered wasn't her fault, that she was a beautiful little girl who deserved to be loved, not abused. What her father did to her was very very bad and very very wrong. We were very sorry that she had suffered it, but she was such a brave and wonderful little girl, and we were glad that she had come forth. She cried and cried and cried.

We got to know the child alter, played with her, and eventually told her about Jesus, that He is her Creator who loves her so much that He died on the cross to save her from her sins so that she can be with Him forever in heaven. She accepted the Gospel without any resistance and reminded me of Jesus' words in Mark 10:15: "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."

The joy of Jesus' love replaced her anger, and laughter her tears. She forgave her father, prayed and sang praises to Jesus, then after a while told us that she is going to go to Jesus and will see us in heaven, and then was gone. We had fallen in love with the child alter during the weeks that she spent with us, and missed her very much when she left.
